It's Official! Southwest Colorado Genealogical Society, Inc.

On April 21, 2011, Ruth Lambert announced the exciting news that Southwest Colorado Genealogical Society, Inc. had been offically formed as a non-profit corporation. She also shared that our financial account had been set up with the La Plata County Historical Society and that we are good to go in accepting membership applications. We gratefully acknowledge the help of the Historical Society as we establish this new organization. Exciting times are ahead!
Our next meeting will be on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Animas Museum. Hope to see you there!
It's a Go!

As this News Feed will be a record of announcements, I am reprinting the first announcement ever made on this website. It was originally posted on the home page of the brand new SWCoGen website on April 3, 2011.
A meeting was held on 2 Apr 2011 to see if there was enough interest to form a genealogical society. With 12 people in attendance, we decided to move forward in creating the Southwest Colorado Genealogical Society.
Our first official meeting will be held 14 May 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Animas Museum, located at 3065 W. 2nd Ave., Durango. At that meeting, annual dues will be collected and anyone who pays dues by that date will have the distinction of being recorded as a Founding Member. We will also offer some genealogical training at that meeting.
